Dr. Yoon Mark Hong, MD

I have been to the 6 Top Urology Docs in the valley. Several had poorly run offices and staff. I have been waiting for TULSA-PRO procedure to come to Phoenix. Dr. Hong's office has been excellent, on time for appointments and Dr. Hong is prompt. My wife and I are very pleased and impressed with Dr. Hong's ability, communication and intellect. We feel fortunate and blessed to be in his care.

I saw Dr Hong recently and had a similar experience whereas he did not provide sufficient analgesia and a "painless" procedure was excruciatingly painful. The staff was uncooperative. I have filed a complaint with the Arizona Medical Board and suggest anyone with a similar experience do so also. Just look up AZBOM and fill out a quick online complaint.

I saw this doctor based on reviews being high. That’s obviously (now) a bad way to select a physician. This drs bedside manner and skills were at best mediocre. The office mgr was the worst as was the billing process and follow up.

Crooks and Liars!!! Come here if you wanted a botched procedure then have your doctor turn his back on you and try to take your money! Short version: my husband got a vasectomy and something went terribly wrong!!!!! Worst pain of my husbands life! Stitch got infected!!! No pain meds were given even though 3 other offices I called (after) said they standard procedure to prescribe pain meds. Dr refused to see him FOR AN INFECTION after an office scheduling error. Then tried charging him to see him without running it through both insurances. Husband now has two balls that have formed from the procedure and pain weeks after! Long: Went in for a consultation for vasectomy with my husband. The dr told my husband the pain would be like getting "kicked in the nuts." The day of the procedure my husband said he felt everything! We paid $100 to have laughing gas which my husband said did nothing aka they did not turn it up enough. Local anesthesia did not help. He was in so much pain… and the dr had the nerve to get an attitude with him telling him he should have known it was a medical procedure. Zero empathy zero compassion! Now, my husband does not have a low pain tolerance. He has broken his hand, had surgery, has had 2nd degree burns and he didn't even complain. But this was unlike anything I've seen pain wise. He was not prescribed anxiety meds or pain meds was told to only take otc meds. They only gave him a note from work for 3 days despite knowing his profession being in construction outside in 100+ degree heat. My husband goes to work and of course is not able to keep his stitch dry due to sweating. So it got infected! I called the office on a Thursday and asked if they would prescribe topical or oral antibiotics. They asked the dr and he said no. She said he would have to come in and could see him at 4:20 that day. I said ok let me make sure my husband can leave work and call right back. She said they were going to lunch and to leave a voicemail message confirming that they check it immediately after lunch. I called and left the message at 12:45. I didn't hear anything from them so I called at 2:30 to make sure they got my message but nobody answered so I called again at 2:45 and asked if they received my message. The girl clearly did not and listened to my message while I was on the phone with her. She said they gave away the appointment and could NOT see him unless he could get there by 3. It was 2:48 when she told me this and I said "so in 2 minutes?" She said "by 3." I said "so in 1 minute?" (It was 2:59) and she rudely replied again "by 3." Absolutely unrealistic! They said they were closed the next day (friday) and the following Monday was Labor Day also closed. This is the drs private practice. There is no rule saying he can't stay late. This was their error which the girl admitted to me! I said we would be there at the appointment time they promised us and she said they would call security if we showed up!!!!! My husband went to urgent care since they refused to see him. The urgent care dr gave my husband antibiotics and also gave him a note to be off work and said he NEVER should have been released to work so soon. That following Tuesday my husband was trying to get in still to be seen for his infection. I was also a patient and had an appointment that day but was sick. So my husband called and told them I was sick and wanted to take my appointment. They refused to let him cancel for me even though I have been able to make/cancel appointments for him! I also have proof I was at my other doctors sick! So they got him in before my appointment since they refused to let him take mine. When my husband showed up they said he had to pay $100 to be seen despite them NEVER collecting anything on any other visit. No other doctors office has ever collected anything when's there's a primary and secondary insurance. So he left. My husband went to a new urologist who said the pain NEVER should have been that bad and my husband has 2 lumps that have formed from this which we are still working to find out what it is! He is also still in pain weeks later! Now we just received a letter from the doctors office filled with lies!!!! As you can read in the picture (go to Yelp for pics) they DID NOT try to get him in that day like they claim. I also never used the F word. I did not cuss once! I know better than that. I also never once said the word "lawsuit" this is a complete fabrication! They are lying about collecting a balance. As shown in my husbands patient portal there is NO balance on my husbands account. As you can see in my account they charged me a no show fee almost over 2 weeks after my "no show" appointment. They applied money i paid at the time of the visit for my visit to my fee. Dr. Hong was fine. The officer manger, Kelly was very unprofessional to both me and the Medicare Reps. The office charged me $500 and demanded I sign a waiver for them to NOT submit the bill to my Medicare Health Advantage plan, which my insurance said was NOT proper. Overall, I wish I had gone to another doctors office. I have serious doubts about the validity of all the positive reviews for this practice.

Went in for low testosterone because he is the specialist and was unable to give me any answers, didn't seem to care and showed no effort. I was just a number in his day. His answer to me was "I don't have any answers" Worst doctor I've ever been to. Go somewhere that cares. Office staff is terrible too.

Couldn't get through the after hours number, for patients (invalid option) or providers (leave a message after the beep, none comes, message just loops). Even contacted former office to see if there was another number they might have, all of the numbers were invalid. One appointment was made with us in office, and another one was put in their books. No follow up was done, and we only just got a notification email the day before the appointment we made was supposed to be, only to learn they booked it 5 days later. You can't reach them with any ease. They made a very big error and hope they will fix it for future patients. We may not be back.

Having seen Doctor Hong on 2 occasions, he exceeds my expectation all. He is patient, listens to my concerns and has a great bedside manner. He is compassionate and his staff Amanda who I saw also is excellent too. He helped recommend and put my medical concerns at ease on what is best suited for me.

Very professional, explains what will be the procedure needed to solve discomfort. Surgery was very well done and follow up also. I would highly recommend this doctor. I understand he has joined another group and they should be happy to have him.
