Dr. Charles Bradford Goodwin, MD

Dr. Goodwin is extremely personable and was very patient with me in explaining the issue I had, and how he was going to fix it. He is truly a top-flight spine surgeon and healer. He already came highly recommended by people I know well, and I made the right decision going with Charlie for my spinal fusion procedure.

Dr. Goodwin was recommended to me from a friend and I am so glad I followed up and went. After years of pain management, pain shots and pain medications I went to see him. He showed me what was wrong and that I needed a L5-S1 fusion. Within a month, I had the procedure at HSS and I am so grateful. 6 weeks out and PT starting, I feel great. Better than I have in many years. Thank you Dr. Goodwin, you are the best!!

I called Dr Goodwin in the beginning of the pandemic when everything was shut down and he immediately called me back on his personal phone. He set up an appointment with me where he recommended a second spinal fusion which he performed the first fusion 11 years ago. Dr Goodwin fully explained what the surgery entailed and was confident this would alleviate my pain. I was then contacted by his staff and set up the surgery in a timely manner. I had immediate relief after the surgery and was able to start walking with no pain again. Dr Goodwin's office manager Shera was always available and answered my calls immediately and was able to answer and help with any questions. I highly recommend Dr Goodwin.

After not having a good feeling from a previous droctor about my condition (Herniaterd disc, pinched nerve, dropped foot) Dr Goodwin was reccomended to me by a colleague who had prior back surgery with him. I cannot be more grateful to Dr. Goodwin and his staff! After 4 days in the hospital and weeks of excrutiating pain, I went to him for a second opinion, and he is the ONLY one who saw that I actually had a fragmented piece of disc floating around my spine causing all this pain! We scheduled surgery immediatly and I was pain free right from the recovery room! I could not have been happier with my decision to go with Dr. Goodwin, and I can walk today, pain free, because of him! If I did not see him, I may have had permanent nerve damage to my leg. I cannot reccomended him and his knowledge enough! He saved my ability to walkl!

Doctor Goodwin came to me highly recommended. From first office visit to my Back surgery, fused L4-L5 The doctor was GREAT! Was never nervous, when I opened my eyes right after the procedure, the pain I've had for over 3 years in my lower back, and right leg was GONE! I'm 16 days after surgery I'm walking 3.5 miles. After my follow up this morning, I was given Green light to ride the stationary bike, allowed in pool, hot tub. I recommend Doctor Goodwin 100%!

Dr. Goodwin said from the first visit he would take care of me and he kept his word. From reassuring me before surgery in the hospital and after surgery that he was there for me if I needed him. I can't say enough about the staff in HSS the best. Especially the recovery crew I thank you .

I could never thank Dr. Goodwin enough for helping me, when no one else was able to help me with the severe pain I had. Dr. Goodwin has such a special gift. Before meeting him Went to two orthopedic doctors, went to pain management, had two epidurals and went to a chiropractor. No one was able to help ease the pain. Then my daughter in laws dad suggested we contact Dr. Goodwin. I contacted Dr. Goodwin. He reviewed x-rays, And MRI. He told me, he knows what is wrong and he could help me. That’s when the miracle happened. After delays due to the Covid Virus, he was finally able to perform surgery on my spine. For the first time in over 10 months, I am without pain! Thank you Dr. Goodwin. You are my special Angel!

Dr Goodwin is amazing. Treats you like he’s known you forever. He Takes the time to answer all your questions and makes you feel at ease. Couldn’t have been a better experience. Also his employee Shira is phenomenal. She goes above and beyond for the patients. I highly recommend Dr Goodwin and his office.

Dr. Goodwin did an amazing job with my microdiscectomy. I "shopped" around a bit for a doctor I was comfortable with and that could tell me straight if I needed this surgery or not and what exactly I should expect. I also wanted to know how long it would be before I could return to playing sports. Dr. Goodwin made me feel very comfortable and explained things very simply and straight forward to me in regards to the surgery and what to expect. I had a substantial herniation and was in pain already for about 1 1/2 months. By that time I was also experiencing weakness in my left leg and was losing control of some of the muscles. My nerve was essentially being strangled to death. After the surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery (which is the nicest hospital I've ever been to by the way) I felt the difference immediately. The next day about 85% of my symptoms were gone. Eventually, week by week, the nerve that was being strangled going down my leg began to heal. I started to feel like my… old self VERY quickly. Fast forward to now, 2 months post surgery, and I feel like I never had a herniated disc at all. I am finishing up PT and I feel GREAT. I owe it all to Dr. Goodwin and how well he performed the surgery. He was also great in all my follow ups and was very personable. I am so glad I decided to have this done with him and would HIGHLY recommend him to anybody who is on the fence about getting the surgery or if you are looking for a good doctor to do it. Not big on leaving reviews. That stated, I am leaving this review because of the excellent treatment I received from Dr. Goodwin and his team. I could not be happier with the treatment, surgery, hospital stay, aftercare, and results. Prior to surgery, I could not stand for longer than 5 minutes. 3 weeks after and I was back at work with no pain whatsoever. Schedule the surgery, do what you must between now and then, and get it done.
