Dr. Allen Shawlun Wang, MD

I am from sunny San Diego, California where I studied Bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego and surfed in my free time. After college, I spent a year in cancer research before realizing that I gained more fulfillment interacting with and caring for patients on a daily basis. My interests in patient care and technological advancements in medicine are what led me to ophthalmology. I attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. After earning my medical degree and completing an internship, I moved to Dallas to pursue my residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas –Southwestern. During medical school and residency, I published research in a peer-reviewed journal. As a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, I have presented my research at these and other ophthalmology conferences. As an ophthalmologist, I am privileged with the opportunity …to apply state of the art technology to treat eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts. I am truly grateful to be able to practice ophthalmology; it has been a dream come true for me. I am blessed to call Texas home now. In my free time, I enjoy playing piano, hiking and spending time with my wife and son. I am excited to be a part of the team here and to be providing you with the outstanding care that defines Total Eye Care.
