Dr. Andrew Jay Bernstein, MD

I went to him for treatment of my Low T due age related hypogonadism which, prior to making the appointment, a receptionist at his Roselle office assured me he did. When I finally met him he started to tell me that in HIS opinion my total testosterone level was not low enough for treatment even though the American Urological Association says it is and my symptoms are severe. He was obviously not up to date on their latest guidance for the treatment of hypogonadism. He also tended to interrupt me when I tried to explain my symptoms to him and gave me the impression that he couldn't care less about them. He was, however, keen to switch me over to talking about getting a lot of potentially painful, debilitating, and expensive testing for prostate cancer. I think when he realized that I had no interest in that, he made the decision to drop me as a patient and that is exactly what happened the next day when another receptionist called me and said he would never treat me for Low T and I… should look for another urologist. I found our meeting to be rushed with little meaningful communication taking place. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend him to any other senior males who, like me (I'm currently 73), are in need of treatment of their age related Low T condition. We need treatments for our condition and not time wasting excuses for not getting the treatment. My advice to anyone seeking treatment for his Low T is to verify that the endocrinologist or urologist you are thinking of hiring to treat you adheres to the American Urological Associations guidance for treatment. If you don't do that, then you will be setting yourself up to experience the same kind of disappointment I did and more needless delay of your treatment.

The consummate professional you always hope to find! Doc Andy made a miserable situation almost a pleasure. After a year of different doctors and different modalities ( and agendas) I Learned a lot about doctors. What a pleasure to deal with with the guy with the million dollar smile, and the skill to match. He got me off my Two month catheter trip, and back in the swing in two days. Slept right through the entire procedure and pricing could not be fairer, specially for someone without insurance. An equally compassionate staff of professionals supporting him. Dr. Andrew Bernstein is somewhat caring. But, after sending me to get an MRI he refused to do my Targeted MRI/Ultrsound Fusion Biopsy procedure. He only wanted to do an ultrasound biopsy which I considered to be a blind procedure. His profit margin was more important than my care. He's very misinformed about my SCS Implant. So, I had to go elsewhere to have my fusion biopsy done and they had no anxieties about doing it. I would definitely not recommend Dr. Bernstein!

Dr. Bernstein is intelligent, articulate , knowledgeable and caring. He always takes the time to answer all of my questions and consider all Options. He listens to his patients and humanizes the patient experience.

Dr. Bernstein took care of me in an emergency (kidney stone) and he is outstanding in every way. I met him at the ER. He gave me confidence and straight answers, and his care and decisions got me through a potentially life-endangering few weeks. He is highly experienced, professional, and treated me like an adult. I highly recommend him for his expertise and skill. The best!

One of the best Dr's I've seen yet!!.. He really does everything necessary within his power to figure out what's wrong and how to treat it!

Dr Bernstein performed a Cystoscopy under anesthesia for pain & bladder control - complete success. He is very professional & empathetic. I highly recommend him
