Dr. Eric R Ritchie, MD

Three doctors looked at my daughter's knee and no one said her explanation was impossible and accused her of lying. After she bent down and on the way up she heard a "pop". Immediate pain and swelling. An hour later the swelling went down and it was bruised. We went to Texas Med Clinic, they took an xray but thought she needed an mri and see an orthopedic. The next day she showed me her shoulder that had already been hurting and when her knee "popped" she fell over hitting her shoulder causing more pain, swelling and bruising. She already had an appointment with her primary/intern. She wanted an mri of the shoulder also. So we had both done at the same time. Texas Med Clinic gave us three names of orthopedics. One was near us at Trinity but he was not available and said we could get Dr Ritchie with less of a wait but still two weeks for an appointment. I read the results of the MRIs when I picked them up and saw nothing was torn, broken but swelling and my concern is why… is she having so much joint pain for years and why such a strange "pop" happened. Not to tell my 16 year old she was lying and actually fell on her knee. Who would make up such a thing??? A specialist does not have enough knowledge to know this could happen without a fall. The night it happened I sent pictures to an ER doctor in another city. After the x-ray showed nothing broken and kneecap is in place over the phone with a picture she said it was probably a bursa sac that burst. This is what makes sense but why would something like this happen to a 16 year old. Dr. Ritchie said the only reason you would bruise like that without falling is if she had a blood disorder. When I tried to explain many issues she is having and being tested for he cut me off and said you would know she had a blood disorder way before now. Okay, but I do believe it is all related I do not know how but she is being tested for ibd diseases, has a Vitamin D level 7 and that doctor said the lowest they have ever seen is 6, she is lethargic, has migraines, back pain, joint pain especially knee and shoulder, etc.. This was the biggest waste of time. Looked at the mri on the cd which the radiologist already wrote the results on the paper. I asked him if he looked at the mri for the shoulder. He said yes fine, just swelling. Never looked at the shoulder. Spent a total of 5 minutes with her, looked at her knee, moved it and said he can order pt. I asked about the shoulder and he said he can put the shoulder on pt order too whcih he never did - the paper just said the knee.

I was extremely impressed with Dr Ritchie and the staff. He explained everything to us in detail. He was not rushed and answered all of our questions. He also showed concern and was able to put our 7 year old daughter at ease. I would recommend him to anyone who wants the best care for their child.

My son had an arm fracture and Dr Ritchie did a great job explaining everything he was going to do. I like that he doesn't sugar coat things - he's just straight & to the point with tact :) Gave us recommendations - I never felt rushed. I had a concern about something he said when I left the office so I called the office back. He called me back after hours to explain it to me again. I felt so much better after I talked to him. Staff was courteous - all around a great experience.

My son was seen for pain in his feet due to over pronation. We were sent for xrays during our visit and when Dr Ritchie was unable to completely rule out another problem he immediately sent my son for more xrays that showed everything he needed to see. He took his time to explain everything to me and answered every single question i had. I was beyond impressed with his bedside manner and his staff was all very polite and helpful. My son was a new patient and he was given an appointment the exact same afternoon! I highly recommend Dr Ritchie!!!!!!
