Dr. Geoffrey Wai Chung Kaung, MD

Same time last year my husband had a spine surgery to remove his tumor. Doctor Kaung operated on him for almost 12 hours and he did an excellent job! Spine surgery is no joke and we are so glad we got Mr. Kaung as our doctor because he recovered really fast.

If you want to hear the honest truth about your back, this is the man to see. He did not try to sign me up for surgery and gave me very direct and honest answers about what would, and would not work in the long run. I appreciated the no nonsense answers. And now a year later - I am doing better - without surgery.

I had two spine surgeries within three months in 2018. The first surgery was done Posterior and did not work because the cage became dislodged from between L4 and L5. This was discovered on my first follow up. When I asked how often this had happened, the reply from Dr. Kaung was once. The second surgery was done Anterior to insert a larger cage and keep it intact with screws, clips, and rods. After this surgery I was seen twice by Dr. Kaung, followed up by by being seen by other doctors. Dr. Kaung was arrogant, rude, and seemed uncaring from the first time we met and until he quit following up with me on my appointments. He came highly recommended and that was the only reason I continued to use him. I would suggest getting second opinions after the first visit with Dr. Kaung. He’s not the only “great” spine surgeon out there.

I visited Dr. Geoffrey W. Kaung at t/Washington Hospital Center Orthopedic Centerapprox 8 yrs. ago. He diagnosed abnormalities whereas t/doctor's on board now have diagnosed a different diagnosis. I need to know my true diagnosis in order to get t/proper treatment and live my life accordingly. Need answers.

Wait time was an hour and 30 minutes after appointment time before seeing doctor. Front staff was great but gave wrong paperwork for doctor. Nurse in back was friendly. Doctor was unconcerned would not listen, would ask a question and before i could finish answering would ask another. Horrible bedside manner. Did not seem concerned that i was in severe pain.

The vast majority of people at BCM are promt, efficient and very kind. The doctor gave me a diagnosis that meant I would be in increasing pain the rest of my life. When I started to cry, he told me that I needed to accept the inevitable.

I saw him in the hospital after I had been in a car accident. I felt like his pride was more important than the standard of care. He had little concern for my comfort. I understand doctors become desensitized over time, however we are people not machines.

He was very knowledgeable and honest. Excellent surgeon who fixed my back!!
