Dr. Helen Plavnik, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Plavnik for going on 20 years. She takes the time necessary to understand any problems and recommends appropriate treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Plavnik for women of all ages.

This woman is not a doctor. She should no longer be allowed to practice medicine. I have no idea how she still has her medical license. Plavnik told me I needed to have surgery right away. They scheduled surgery. I called the office and told them that I was not ready for the surgery. I decided to get a second opinion before I agreed to anything. Plavnik's office called me every week and I told me that I could not delay and I needed to have surgery as soon as possible. I went to another gynecologist for a second opinion. He scheduled a specific exam for me to confirm what Plavnik recommended. When he completed the test, his face turned white. He looked visibly upset. He said that I did not have anything at all. That is when he said the following that he heard this Doctor Plavnik recommends unnecessary surgeries to her patients. I was in shock! I could not believe that a doctor would lie to her patient and recommend unnecessary surgery! As patients, we trust our doctors with our… lives. It is a surgery, not a manicure! I would not recommend this so-called doctor to anyone. Please get a second opinion before you agree to any procedures or surgeries. Do not trust her.

The worst doctor and the office, disrespectful, money minded and inconsiderate. My 83 year old mom had an appointment today , when she got to the office medical staff told us that the doctor is on vacation and will call her back with test results, because she couldn't see her. Seriously? Medical office called day before an appointment and ask my mom to come earlier but they didn't even have courtesy to inform her so that she wouldn't travel all the way to let her know that doctor will not be at the appointment. This is so ridiculous and infuriating as the office not informing their patients that doctor is out of country and will not be able to see patients but they call to remind not to be late for the appointment. This sort of people should not be allowed to practice medicine. Stay away from the practitioner and her incompetent office. BTW, I was forced to select a star so I had to pick one, I give them -1 star.

This was the worst experience with a doctor consultation that I ever had. They just don’t care about the patients. Very rude and unprofessional staff. If you don’t want to waist your precious time avoid this medical office.

My 75 year old mom had an appointment last week, when she got to the office she was told that the doctor had an emergency thus couldn't see her. Seriously? I understand the emergency but they didn't even have courtesy to call my mother to inform her so that she wouldn't travel all the way to be turned down. However, they gave her an appointment for the following week. During this appointment, once my mother completed all her paper work she was told they don't accept her insurance and turned her away. This is so ridiculous and infuriating as the office had the insurance information from when we called to make the appointment. This sort of people should not be allowed to practice medicine. It's like there's a curse on this office. The building is rickety and the office is dirty and depressing. Every patient in the waiting room was angry with the staff and wait time and one patient had a fight with the receptionist because the receptionist was so rude. Dr. Planvik was only okay. Certainly not worth putting up with the staff's rudeness and incompetence. The simple task of booking an appointment over the phone was a nightmare, and the strange snarkiness from the moment I called was so ridiculous. At a different time I called to have a prescription altered because the way the doctor had written it prevented me from getting it for each period. My cycle is more frequent than every 30 days, but I wasn't allowed to re-up till 30 days had passed. The receptionist couldn't grasp the math and started fully yelling at me that she wouldn't tell the doctor to give me medicine 25 days straight every month. I continued explaining slowly and calmly this was not what I was suggesting… and finally said that if I was allowed to speak to the doctor directly that she would under the issue. The receptionist refused to let me speak with the doctor or leave a message. I called back three other times to get the prescription I needed and even left a message for Dr. Plavnik to call back. I never received a response. I finally had the idea to speak with a pharmacist to see if they could call in the change to my prescription. She understood the issue instantly and called it in and had the change made within an hour. The incompetence and unprofessionalism of this office is unreal. The intensity of every patient's upset in the waiting room was palpable and it was all of the staff, not just one person, who were terrible. Patients were arguing over billing problems and an appt not being in the books even though they'd waited weeks for their appt. We were there well over an hour and others had apparently waited longer. The doctor came out eating chocolate and wiping her hands and didn't apologize for the long wait. I would never recommend this office.

Can't praise Dr. Helen Plavnik enough for the care she provides to me every time I see her. Always attentive, courteous, knowledgeable and with impeccable bedside manners. I always fully rely on her advise and and treatment options. The office staff is also very attentive and polite. All in all is a win win experience.

I am honestly shocked by some of the reviews for this office because I have only had positive experiences with the doctor, nurses I have been seeing Dr. Helen Plavnik for over three years. She has always been cordial and acted appropriately during exams. In fact, I find her to be very friendly and approachable. Dr. Helen Plavnik has always answered my questions and helped me seek appropriate methods of healthcare and gets test results back to patients in a very timely matter Overall, it saddens me that people have had poor experiences here, because I have always been satisfied with the level of care and professionalism.
