Dr. Goolsby is a sports medicine physician and member of the HSS Sports Medicine Institute. She serves as the Medical Director of the Women's Sports Medicine Center (WSMC) and Director of Patient Care and Quality of the Primary Sports Medicine Service. In addition to clinical and administrative responsibilities at HSS, Dr. Goolsby is the Director of Sports Medicine for the WNBA. She has been to the Olympics with the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee and with US Biathlon. She was team physician for the WNBA's New York Liberty for 10 years and served as President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (2023-24). 'I strive to keep my patients active and healthy to achieve their movement goals through a comprehensive approach. I try my best to understand and address both the 'what' and the 'why' of my patients' issues to form the ideal treatment approach that includes recovery as well as future prevention. Collaborating with other members of the WSMC, HSS clinicians, and …external providers is a critical part of my approach to a patient's care to get them back to what they love to do in life and sport.' A graduate of Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine, Dr. Goolsby completed her residency in family medicine at UCLA and remained at UCLA to complete her fellowship in sports medicine. She is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. She regularly teaches students, residents and fellows and serves as mentor for the WSMC summer internship program. Dr. Goolsby treats patients for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions seeking non-surgical care. Her main clinical and research interests are bone health in athletes, stress fractures and the female and male athlete triad/RED-S. As a prior collegiate basketball player, she understands what it means to be an athlete and focuses on safe return to activity for her patients.
