Dr. Martin Gerald Mendelssohn, MD

I very nearly had to have surgery cancelled because this imbecile was consulted AFTER the knee surgery was certified with my consulting doctor AND another independent consult with a current, practicing orthopaedic surgeon. He recommended non certification based on lack of preventive measures tried first, such as steroid shots and physical therapy. This was news to myself, my surgeon, and even the worker's comp agency itself as I had already undergone three separate 4-6 week therapy sessions AND steroid shots, which failed to help. The Worker's Comp got the result they wanted, but after some frantic calls between myself, the two surgeons who certified it previously and my lawyer it was overturned and my surgery will go through as planned. Long story short, this man may have been a good doctor fifteen or twenty years ago, but at this point in time he is making serious mistakes and oversights which could cost someone their livelihood, or even their life. He needs his license… revoked.

I agree that he appears to be in collusion with the insurance companies as why would they pay him for another "independent" evaluation unless he provides the results that they want. I'm having the same problem with him and he is unaccountable for his actions. The insurance companies have him in their pocket and he is free and clear of any responsibility for his actions. His review doesn't even mention the back surgery to replace my disc and removal of the compression of my vertebra on my spinal nerve ganglia. I still have constant back pain and still stumble and fall. He didn't contact me either to ask what I am going through. He has made a medical decision for a patient that he has never seen or personally evaluated. It is a gimmick used by insurance companies to keep the profits up and costs down. How does Social Security consider me disabled by the insurance records but his "competent" evaluation? He was either not provided all of the information or deliberately chose to… ignore that which didn't fit the decision that was desired by the insurance company. God has a place for this type of person.

The guy is 69 years old and is a joke. Hired by companies to perform "independent" medical examinations without talking to patient surgeon or patient. Rubber stamps patient is not disabled to keep the cash cow flowing.
