Dr. Ramzy S. Nakad, MD

We went in for our 20 week ultrasound. The tech did our ultrasound and then brought in Dr. Nakad. He did not double check anything. He went through the ultrasound pictures and gave us the worst news anyone could get. Told us our baby had a clubbed foot, fluid around her bowel, and was measuring small. He said it could be down syndrome, trisomy 13 or 18. He then told us that Nebraska state law was 20 weeks for abortion! I could not believe what I was hearing. He said he couldn't rule out the brain, looking back, why didnt he get on the ultrasound and CHECK IT! I was in there, belly out, jelly still on my tummy. Of course we didnt have all the right questions to ask since we had never gone through this before. We left there and we had to get with my OB and then a genetic counselor. We were there for hours. Dr. Nakad said he would have me do blood work to rule out trisomy's and also check to make sure the baby was growing in 2 weeks. if at that point she wasnt bigger they would induce me… and I would have to deliver! We seeked out a second opinion, they ruled out the fluid, one of the trisomy's, and downs immediately at the first appointment. 19 weeks later she was born, healthy and happy! She was small for her gestational age but that was all. The clubbed foot was something we got corrected and now she is almost walking. Tomorrow is her one year birthday! I would never recommend going to Dr. Nakad, his bedside manner is horrible and the fact that he led with abortion is just so disturbing to me. Next time he should get in there and double check everything HIMSELF before giving someone news like that.
