Dr. Shaka Malik Walker

Dr. Walker was recommended to me for a second opinion for total hip replacement. I knew from the start that he was my choice for doing my surgery. First of all he pointed out a major reason for delaying the surgery; as opposed to immediate surgery by my first opinion. He was compassionate and extremely thorough in his explanation of the delay and the surgery itself. The surgery went extremely well and I was on the road to complete recovery quickly. I was out of the walker in about a week, and dispensed with the cane in another week. All my Physical Therapy personnel told me I was well ahead of “schedule” in my recovery. This was due to the success of the surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Walker for Orthapedic Surgery. I will not go to anyone else

I hope he has gotten rid of his PA. She was the absolute worst, condescending and unqualified in my opinion. My knee pain was misdiagnosed as arthritis when in fact, it was a torn meniscus. I was told it was arthritis because of my age (45) and weight. I was sent to physical therapy where the therapist diagnosed it as a torn meniscus and referred me to an excellent doctor. I ended up having an MRI and surgery thereafter. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, especially if you are "old" and "overweight".

Needed shoulder surgery again because Dr. Walker didn't fix the problem he said he would fix. Dismisses pain complaints, terrible followup, he couldn't even return a phone call. Very disappointed.

The best sports medicine Doctor I have ever went to. Really takes the time to go over exactly what's wrong and examine the area of interest. Also tells you everything you need to know about surgery and explains to you what will happen and what could possibly happen if he finds something else wrong during surgery! Seriously a great doctor and recommend him to everyone!

I had a arthroscopic knee surgery done by Dr. Walked in August. He is very caring and compassionate. He explained all details of the surgery thoroughly. I am returning for another surgery next month. He is the only surgeon I would see or recommend anyone to see.

Dr. Walker is highly efficient, caring and effective. I had a severe multiple ligament destruction injury with the the popliteal artery ruptured. After 7 surgeries performed by German doctors making all necessary repairs, Dr. Walker finished the job with the amount of aggressive care that my situation needed. When all others said I would never run again, he was more than positive. He gave me a plan and stuck to it. His prognosis was accurate to the month of when I would regain a normal knee again. MAJ (Air Force) Shaka Walker is excellent and will give you realistic hope.

I was an inpatient at LRMC for 61/2 weeks for a staph infection and DVT in my knee. Dr. Walker always gave me all the time I asked for and always took time to answer all of my questions. His bedside manner put me at ease, as when I arrived, the doctors were not even sure if I would live or die, keep my leg or not, or ever walk again. His assistants were also amazing. I saw one of the two every day, and were always available to me for questions or concerns I had. I never got the feeling that I was "bothering" anyone, or asking too much. I felt true confidence in Dr. Walker and his staff, and that took an enormous burden off me, as I was pretty overwhelmed and scared when I arrived. He truly has everything it takes to be a phenomenal doctor.
