Dr. Vernon Cornelius Smith JR., MD

Dr. Smith is not the type of doctor that rushes through patient visits. He is extremely thorough. He takes his time to explain things about your medical condition so that you fully understand it. I have been a patient of Dr. Smith since he first opened his private practice in 1972. I had the great fortune of being treated by him when he was the Chief Resident at the old DC General Hospital. Had it not been for Dr. Smith being on-duty that night; I might not have survived the medical crisis I was experiencing. After my mom's doctor retired from practice; I took her to Dr. Smith. Like me...she was very satisfied with Dr. Smith

I have been a patient of Doctor Smith since 2012 and he's been wonderful: caring, excellent knowledge and always focused on the patient's overall wellbeing. I have to say... the amount of time he spends with a patient exceeds the norm. He takes time investigating symptoms and talking to the patient, to ensure understanding of the issue on both side: doctor and patient. While other health care providers focus on maximizing the number of patients they can see in a work day, Doctor Smith treats each patient with care and importance. I will recommend him to anyone who is looking for excellent irreproachable service.

I had a horrible experience with this doctor and his office manager. We were new patients and called in with myoms medical history and proceeded to schedule an appointment. I had to call three times to get am initial appointment and not once did the office manager inform us that the office was not handicap accessible. She new that mom has a stroke but blamed me for not telling her that she was in a wheelchair. Upon arriving we struggled to get mom in the office. We were stopped at the door to say they couldn't accommate even a walker! Dr Smith didn't even have the decency to come out and apologize. This office is too disorganized. I wouldn't trust the health of your loved ones to this disorganization.

Dr. Smith is very professional and caring. He takes his time with each patient Dr. Smith is one of those doctors, that if they still did house calls he would be right there. Ms. Paris who is Dr. Smithâ??s assistance is Great. What can I say about these two people but, if you need medical care and/or a second opinion on anything Dr. Smith is the person to see.

Vernon Smith saved my life. Drs. at the tumor board told him the best things he could for me was to prepare my wife for my death. That was 11 years ago. Vernon Smith researched the best surgeon on the planet who happened to be in Washington, DC. So, if you need a caring professional, he's your man. He treats every patient as if he only has one. That means waiting to see him. I wait as long as necessary!
