Dr. Carl Rutledge Freeman, MD

I went to Dr Freeman for an issue with my hip after a year of trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Dr Freeman identified the issue and talked through all of the options for it. I appreciated that he started with a conservative approach of PT, and when I went back for follow up, I asked for another round of PT, and it was no problem. After that round, I asked him if it could be fixed with anything other than surgery. Unfortunately it really couldn’t - so I scheduled it. Dr Freeman is great to talk through options with. He and his staff are really nice. I never felt rushed when I saw him. He took time to chat, explain, and answer all of my questions. I would go back to him in a heartbeat! For almost 13 years I had been seeking help for severe pain in my hip, which would progress into my leg. I was continuously told that the problem was in my BACK and not in the hip. I cannot begin to count the numerous doctors I saw trying to become healthy again - until I saw Dr. Freeman. After having an MRA it revealed that the labrum was severely torn and there was a spur causing unimaginable pain. The surgery was completed on Sept 9 which happened to be my birthday. As I was being "put to sleep" for the procedure, the team in the OR sang Happy Birthday! After the surgery I was able to walk with the aid of crutches. There was a little discomfort from the surgery but walking about the house was painless. I started physical therapy on the 24th of Sept and I am still pain free for moderate walking. I am so grateful that the JOI team worked together to get me to this happy place. Dr. Freeman, you are amazing! Kudos for Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Savarese for their assistance during… this journey.

After 3 repairs and a partial replacement, Dr Freeman did a complete replacement of my left shoulder joint. It has been 3 months since the surgery and I'm happy to report that my shoulder feels really good. This feeling is really amazing since I first injured the shoulder in 1978. After suffering with pain for 40 years, I actually have hope of a great recovery. Awesome!!!

Dr. Freeman has proven that there are still physicians committed to patient care. From my first meeting with him, I felt at ease. He listened, assessed and included me in his plan of care. He has been accessible without hassle or constraints. It is obvious that his staff share his vision for professionalism. An angel from heaven. I suffered agonizing /debilitating pain for 5 months from Avascular Necrosis of the hip/femur area. This highly skilled doctor & his inventive new techniques, saved my hip, my femur head & fixed my ill, and only 1 night in hospital. I have been totally pain free since my surgery 2 weeks ago. I am ready to run when he gives me the go ahead. Would give him 100 stars if I could. Highly recommend. Extremely grateful, & satisfied patient. MB

I recently had a total knee replacement done by Dr. Freeman and I could not be happier. Dr. Freeman is friendly and caring and did a wonderful job on my knee!

Highly skilled physician with very efficient and polite staff. My “anterior” hip procedure was quick and I was soon back to normal activities. The pre-surgery bone on bone pain was brutal so the almost immediate relief was wonderful.

Dr. Freeman treated me while he was still an active duty Navy physician and I was very pleased with all aspects of my treatment. He offered me conservative options for treatment first and when that didn't work, we moved to hip replacement. Today, I'm functional and moving well. Excellent bedside manner and he really cares about his patients.

I had total hip replacement surgery with Dr. Freeman in May. My pain level prior to surgery was an 8-10. I honestly can't thank him enough for giving me my life back! The surgery was so easy. I was released the next day, used a walker for 2 days, and was feeling like myself in two weeks. If you are the least bit hesitant about this surgery, don't be. I was at a point, that I wasn't leaving the house, because it was too painful to walk. I waited much too long to see Dr. Freeman. He's so easy to talk to, and will help you make the right decision for yourself. I'd give him more than 5 stars, if it was possible!
